MOVEMENT OF GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS FOR CLIMATE
PEOPLE'S COP
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The Grassroots Climate Organizations Movement – also known as the People’s COP – is a space for mobilization and leadership of traditional communities and environmental defenders in the fight against the climate crisis. Indigenous peoples, quilombolas, riverine communities, extractivists, and small-scale farmers come together to defend territories and marine environments, denounce environmental injustices, and amplify their voices in decision-making processes.
Born in Belém in 2024, the movement joins forces for COP30 in November 2025, denouncing deforestation, violence against defenders, destruction of biomes, environmental racism, and labor exploitation — while proposing pathways toward a just and sustainable future.
MOVEMENT OBJECTIVES
1. Space for Political Advocacy Coordination
2. Space for Artistic Activities and Installations.
3. Space for the Development of the People’s Tribunal.
4. Space for Mobilization Before, During, and After COP30.
In addition to these spaces, the Grassroots Climate Organizations Movement also aims to be a continuous point of support for the groups involved, ensuring that organizations continue to coordinate actions for climate justice after COP30.
The movement seeks to build a legacy of mobilization, aiming to ensure that public policies become more inclusive, respecting the diversity of peoples and their rights, and representing communities on the front lines of environmental preservation.
